I've been aching to write about HPV vaccine since long time ago but didn't have a chance to do so. Yeah its quite an outdated issue since its been distributed to all Malaysian girls age 13 starting from 2010. What makes me wanted to write on this thing is I've been thinking about the rationality of this HPV vaccine program since its been enforced.
According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), HPV is a most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). More than 40 types of HPV that can infect the genital areas of males and female. Other than that, it also can infect mouth and throat. Those who are infected, mostly don't even know they have it.
My point is, obviously this disease only transmit via sexual intercourse. Yeah it's true it reduce the risk of getting cervical cancer but giving out costly HPV vaccine to all 13 year old girls? It is just like a silent form of encouragement to be sexually active at age of 13. Don't you guys think so? This is merely my own opinion from deep thinking. Maybe some might argue that this is sort of prevention..yeah2 prevention is better than cure..I know it well since I was in elementary school. Maybe it because rape cases among students are increasing day by day so this is kind of protection to victim from getting HPV...yeah maybe. Now..now..lets compared those who are raped with those who are willingly "raped" among those students..hmm should watch the news then.
From my observation, there are increase of teenager's social cases lately. Just yesterday I read about two secondary school-er caught having sex in the huge water loop behind rubber processing premise in Paya Besar, Kulim,Kedah. The factory manager stated that this is not the first time since this couple had been caught by his worker three times already. Seems like our teenagers are sexually active now. Oh by the way, those students are only 14 and 16 year old and Paya Besar, Kulim is not an urban area but still facing with this kind of problem. Should sex education being taught to Malaysian students? NO!! Because these "full-of-curiousity" teenagers will try to do "experiment" on it which may lead to the increment of birth rate.
I think HPV vaccine is not necessary distributed to 13 year old girls. If some want it as prevention, they can get it on or after their wedding especially for Muslim. To other races, I don't think other religious encourage sex before marriage? Oh should be to all atheist, you can get it whenever you think you are ready to do sexual intercourse with your partner and ready to wake up in the middle of night taking care of your baby.
